Canon SD770IS Digital Camera Review

I got Canon SD770IS instead of PowerShot A95. A couple of years ago, I purchased a Digital Elph for my son and found myself using that compact and light digital camera, instead of my A95. Given progress in technology, it was time to upgrade.

The most important feature in searching for a substitute was smaller size and the use of a rechargeable battery. Resolution was less a factor as the A95, with just 5 Mpixels, produced clear images. The most noted improvement, even over the previous Elph, was in the acceleration of all functions including boot up and image recording.

Picture quality is stellar and the color proportion and metering is superior. If you now own a Canon digital camera and you are thinking of buying a new one, the basic navigation of characteristics stays primarily the identical, so that will be common to you. Access to the camera’s shooting styles use menus instead than a physical dial as on the A95.

The screen is reasonably big, well illuminated and easy to view, even in shining light. Ultimately, the most essential consideration with digital picture taking should be image quality and ease of use. I have years of experience with manual SLR picture cameras and similar point and shoots, and this model fits perfectly for true “turn it on and shoot” photography. Images are crisp and vivid with good detail and vibrant color.

The light meter does a great job of measuring the settings and selecting the best possible combination of shutter speed and aperture.

A high capacity (SDHC) memory card will give a large amount of pictures even at the full resolution. Uploading photos to a PC or Mac is smooth with either the provided software or Apple’s iPhoto software, which works seamlessly with the camera. I would recommend both a high capacity SD card and the optional leather case to protect the camera, especially if dropped.

This camera just blows me away. It makes astonishing photographs in full-auto mode. In situations where full-auto doesn’t quite do the job as good as possible, this camera permits you change of ISO settings, white balance, focus method, and lots of other factors.

I cannot recommend more Canon SD770IS for someone searching for an easy-to-use, light, small and good digital camera. It’s simply a great camera at a great price.
