Designer Men’s Style – Looking Good For Less

Dressing yourself and refurnishing your fashion wardrobe on a shoe string is not beyond the realms of possibility, providing you embark on it with an open mind and have a good eye for bargains. Additionally, there is nothing better than wearing something that you know is a bargain. I once bought a factory outlet silk/linen Jaeger jacket for ?28 and I still wear it today because I love to tell people that it cost less than my tie.

January & End of Season Sales

The first few months after Christmas are definitely the best time of year to pick up bargains and they often last beyond January, as you can still find good bargains in to March as they try and clear stock before the end of the financial year. Additionally, end of seasons sales are a good time to buy items for the following season. Therefore, don’t ignore the chance to buy next year’s summer clothes just as they are selling them off to make room for this year’s autumn/winter collection.

Factory Shops

Factory outlets are a excellent place to pick up bargains and they are often reduced simply because they are last years colours, styles or because they have a small fault, which to be honest with you usually can not tell unless you really look for it.

Swallow Your Pride

Don’t be too proud to buy used clothes, although you might want to avoid used underwear. You can pick up some fantastic bargains in charity shops and you are putting something back in to society by supporting a charity. Buying used clothes comes down to a snob value because of what we believe it says about us, such as not being able to afford new or being a skinflint. Look at it this way, you are supporting the environment by ensuring that products get as much use as possible and you are passing on money to a good cause. It can also be good fun hunting through the charity shops for bargains.

One tip, look in charity shops in well off areas such as Oxford or Henley because you get a lot of rich people giving clothes to charity shops that cost a fortune to buy new, have hardly been worn and are being sold for a bargain. Whats more is that you are more likely to pick up many designer labels from charity shops in affluent areas. Also, don’t for get to checkout ebay.

Getting the Most

Think neutral when buying and so that you get buy items that can be interchanged and paired with as many items as possible. For example you may be better going for a grey and a navy t-shirt rather than something such as one that is bright orange. Lastly, if you are buying used clothes it is important to ensure that they are wearable and there are no hidden areas of damage that will make it unwearable.
