The Samsung ML 6060 Printer is an excellent printer designed specifically for home use. It is an excellent example of an affordable laser printer that has exceptional quality. It is a mid-range printer and prints both text and graphics at a high quality. Its maximum speed is 12 pages per minute.
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer and ML6060N printers are virtually identical. The only difference is that the ML 6060N has a 10/100 BaseTX Ethernet adapter and the 6060 does not. The ML 6060 can be upgraded but you may get the better deal by purchasing the ML 6060N if you want the Ethernet adapter. It comes with a standard 66 MHz RISC processor. The memory is on the low side but can be upgraded from 4 MB to a maximum of 68 MB or RAM.
Text printing really stands out and large text documents are printed at the maximum speed of 12 ppm. All graphics and text are crisp and clear due to the 1200 x 1200 print resolution. An additional way to save on this printer is to operate it in toner saving mode. Toner can get quite pricey and you can save up to 40% when operating the printer in toner saving mode.
It can print on a few different types of media including plain paper, transparencies, and envelopes and can print a maximum size of legal or A4 paper. It is compatible with the following operating systems, Windows 3.x/95/98, Microsoft DOS, Mac and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. It cannot be connected to a network but uses a USB connection. The parts and services are covered by a one-year warranty.
When testing the printer a few limitations were found though they are very minor indeed. The machine did not have a problem printing excel files that had black text on solid color blocks. Many times this can be an issue with other problems but the Samsung ML 6060 Printer did not have any problems. Any text that is smaller then 10 pts was a bit blurry and hard to read so just be aware and keep all font larger then 10 pts.
When printing a document that contains both text and graphics the printing speed does slow down considerably but if you add more memory the speed will return to its normal 12 pages per minute. The contrast between the text and graphics was excellent though if you want even better clarity you can fiddle with some of the printing options.
The printer works its best when printing completely text documents, as the text is sharp, crisp and clear. A 50-page document can be produced in just over four minutes. The combination of high quality printing and speed make it one of the best in its range.
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer is an excellent choice for personal or home printing. It is extremely affordable and with the toner saving mode you will be saving money on Samsung ML 6060 Printer Toner. It is possible to upgrade the connectivity and memory on this Samsung Printer Toner Cartridge device though for printing text and graphic files this is not necessary.
