The Samsung ML 6060 printer is an updated version of the Samsung ML 6050 and this laser budget printer had taken advantage of the inkjet trend of affordable prices with increased quality. This printer is considered mid-range when looking at Samsung’s entire printer range. It prints at a speed of 12 pages per minute and can holdup to 550 sheets of paper in the tray.
The 6060 connects using a USB connection but you can upgrade it to have a 10/100 BaseTX Ethernet adaptor though this feature is the only difference between the 6060 and the next model up. Cost wise you may be better buying the ML 6060N instead of upgrading the printer. The memory is rather low which can make printing large documents problematic though it can be expanded from 4 MB to 68 MB. It comes with a standard processor of 66 MHz RISC.
Resolution is excellent with 1200 x 1200 dpi and this machine does not have a problem printing clear and crisp text and graphic files. You also will find yourself saving on toner if you run it in the toner saving mode. You can save up to 40% on toner. Toner costs can add up so this function is a great option.
This machine is covered by a one-year warranty for all parts and services and you will need to purchase a USB cord to connect it to your computer if you do not already own one. The printer can be run using Windows and Macintosh operating systems. It cannot print on as many types of media as other laser printers but it can handle a maximum page size of standard legal or A4 paper and can print on transparencies and envelopes besides plain paper.
The many different printer text all performed excellently though there are some limitations. When printing excel files the printer was at just under its maximum printing speed. The machine was completely able to handle printing black text on full color backgrounds though if the font is below 10 pts the text became blurry.
When printing a document that contains both text and graphics the printing speed does slow down considerably but if you add more memory the speed will return to its normal 12 pages per minute. The contrast between the text and graphics was excellent though if you want even better clarity you can fiddle with some of the printing options.
Full text documents were produced the fastest and a 50-page text document can be completed in just over four minutes. The print quality for text is the best out of all documents and produces, crisp, clear, sharp text with excellent scaling. The speed and quality of text printing make it one of the best in its class.
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer is an excellent choice for personal or home printing. It is extremely affordable and with the toner saving mode you will be saving money on ML 6060 Printer Toner. It is possible to upgrade the connectivity and memory on this Samsung Toner device though for printing text and graphic files this is not necessary. All in all an excellent printing choice.
