Muck Boots Arctic Sport Boot Review

Towards the beginning of this year, I was given the chance to try out and write a review for these new Muck Arctic Winter Sport boots that people are raving about. And since I just happen to live in the Northern part of New York State, I really couldn’t think of a better place to try these out, since we regularly have below zero days during January and February. And as further luck would have it, we were having one of our coldest winters on record.

As I took the boots out of the box, the first impression I got was the quality and thickness of the rubber, muck more than I had expected. Then there is this nylon like upper that is very smooth feeling but stretches to fit around your calf. Nothing’s worse than stepping in snow that’s deeper than you thought and having snow fall into the top of your boot and onto your feet. Not a great feeling.

Inside the boot there’s this breathable type nylon lining that’s covered with fleece. I like fleece, and this reminded me of a very big fleece sock. It’s basically a very advanced, very thick, no very, very thick sock. As I tried the boots on in my living room, I immediately noticed how flexible they were, no break-in period here. Walking around was a breeze, the boots are much lighter than they appear, giving your legs a bit of a break when walking through two feet of snow.

Now comes the real test, how warm and dry will they actually keep my feet? I happened to pick a day where the temperature was hovering right around zero, which was plenty cold enough for me. As I ventured outside I walked on our shoveled sidewalks for about a half a mile, then onto an open field with about a foot and a half of snow covering. My feet felt great, what didn’t last were my face and my hands, and I thought I had heavy duty gloves on too.

Taking my winter garments off and warming up by the fire, I was pleased that my feet didn’t have that burning sensation, you know the one that makes them feel like they are on fire, when you bring them to the brink of frostbite? Since then, I don’t go anywhere in the winter without these boots, I’m actually hooked now. Mostly I wear them for the comfort, which I find outstanding. If you need a solid, comfortable waterproof boot, that will keep you feet nice and warm no matter what you are doing outside, I would suggest you check these Arctic Sports from the Muck Boot Company out, your feet will love you for it.
