The Sony KDL46W4100 is an irresistible and extremely featured LCD TV. We were quite impressed by its performance, deep, correct whites and a vivid display. That doesn’t mean there are no negative sides, because the color gamut is slightly off and the viewing angle are not very great.
If you are movie fan or you like some other fast moving action on your TV, then this HDTV television has got a plenty of things to offer you. The Sony KDL46W4100 performed great in our movement tests. We saw smooth movement with movies that contained lots of movement, and the display had no problem serving a good image.
This Sony TV supports a full 1080p or real HD picture. The choice of input and output ports is good, having a 4 HDMI interfaces. Too bad that this TV doesn’t have a USB connector or some card reader.
This televison also provides TruSurround and that is a patented SRS technology that enables playing 5.1 multichannel content through 2 channel speaker systems. This Sony delivers a great virtual surround sound through any 2 speaker sound system, including internal TV speaker systems and headphones. It is fully compatible with any surround format up to 5.1 channels.
This TV also has 3 sound enhancement technologies to produce an stunning sound. Outstanding sound with the solid picture quality truly makes this Sony Bravia TV a good one.
The Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 executed good in our tests of of dark and white colors. Black colors were really deep, especially for an HDTV of this price range. Whites and gray colors were brilliant and precise.
This TV really has splendid colors, we have seen consistent whites and a clean, true representation of the primary colors from which image on the screen is made. We were happy with the coloring, but we did notice a really small issue with the televisions color gamut, and that means colors may not always come out exactly they should.
Maybe the greatest issue with the Sony Bravia KDL-46W4100 is a viewing angle. Looking from aside we found that the contrast ratio was decreasing. Contrast is the difference in presenting the dark and light colors. This TV has a small viewing angle, even for an LCD TV, which usually don’t perform as well in this area as Plasma televisions.
The remote control of Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 is nice, comfortable to take in your hand and it’s well designed with the only one little issue that the controls for direction are at the opposite end of the remote from the channel pushes. The menu on the TV is corresponding of that used in the Playstation 3, and it will take some time getting used to it.
Power consumption is around average. You can operate this LCD TV and you don’t need to worry that you’ll get a big bill for electrics.
This Sony KDL46W4100 is a very good HDTV, with a solid characteristics and outstanding handling on almost all fields. The viewing angle matter will be a bit of a problem for some. If you require a TV is going to be in a room where people will be looking at it from all angles you may want to go with a Plasma. If this isn’t an issue for you, then you will be getting your money’s worth with the Sony KDL46W4100.
