Sony KDL52W4100 Review

May 1st, 2009 · No Comments · Product Reviews

I bought this television in the late 2008 and have found it to be an an absolutely great buy.

A couple reviews said that the tv set has issues while the black shades are switching. Ilooked at this in the store for couple of minutes and have used it for a month and I have’t noticed that at all. This is a extremely sharp TV with brilliant colors and deep black tones. This tv Set is a lot better than the previous TV W model.

Here is why you should get this tv set. It has a very good image in HD and does a extremely nice job in standard definition transmission much better than several other televisions I have seen. For that it’s respossible a great technology from Sony named DSP which is basically noise reduction technology. Sony is familiar with Blu-ray because afterall they manufactured it, they know whit color tones should appear I mean they own a movie studio, the menus are truly comfortable to use, it has a built in TV guide and it has future expansion capability.

Image quality is really near Samsung in HD. I looked at both televisions side by side. Samsung has a slight edge on sharpnes in analog broadcast. Samsung has more glare, Sony has a matte cover but blacks on Samsung are pretty good because of the glossy screen. When watching a Blu-ray disc,Sony has a bit more details. No fade from white to dark problems on Sony as some reviews has mentioned. Colors are nice and vivid as Sony Bravia two engine is outstanding, perhaps even better than XBR engine.I have heard the Z series may be better but there aren’t 52 inche models

Tv menus on TVs are created for experts with a lots of tweeks, but actually it’s confusing for average user. If you doubt that, download the user instructions for the Samsung LN52A650 and for Sony KDL524100 and check for yourself. If you are technical expert, go for the LN52A650. If you don’t want to get lost in menus, but you want an premium picture, take the Sony. Ths Sony TV is really easy to use, but also it automatically finds digital channels and is like having a built in cable box.

The Sony television doesn’t have the Ethernet connector and built in news like the series 6 from Samsung, but it has the built in TV guide and upgrade possibility. But, if you want internet in your TV, you are better off connecting an external device. The TV guide option in this television is good and the Sony Bravia Sync is very good especially if you are using a Sony DVD converter for 1080p. Picture in Picture technology is great also because you are able to view picture from HDMI while viewing cable TV.

A favorite characteristic on Sony KDL52W4100 is the power button on the top side as this is preventing children from turning off LCD TV. Also a good thing is the remote on the Sony as it is quite easy to operate.

So, if you want the a very clean picture, easy to use LCD TV with options that makes standard TV viewing pleasant and easy. This Sony KDL52W4100 is excellent choice.
