UK’s biggest Vehicle Parts Distributor to Meet Profit Forecast in spite of Drop in Sales

The UK’s leading car accessory retailer, Halfords, has indicated a decrease in sales for the third quarter of their financial year. The company, which has over four-hundred and fifty shops, stated, in contrast to the same period last year, the sales dropped by 7.8 % throughout the quarter ending December twenty-sixth. but, after laying off two hundred and fifty people in December the company are certain that they will still meet their revenue expectations for the full year.

The leading contributor to the decrease was a severe dive in demand for satellite navigation systems and alike High Tech products. Not only are unit sales of these products down, but unit prices are alsodeclining. This united trend has had a “double whammy” effect. This trend was in contrast to the performance of Car maintenance goods like light bulbs and Wiper blades, which can rightly be viewed as motoring essentials, rather than frivolous luxuries that are enjoyable to have, but cannot in any way be expressed as essentials for motorists. Indisputable essentials showed good growth in the quarter, perhaps already reflecting the fact that motorists are keeping their vehicles longer, and doing a fraction of the routine maintenance themselves. Cycling items were also an area of growth for the company.

This reinforcement of demand in the market for common sense essentials in the automotive sector has been confirmed by the importers of the XOPC brand of Silicone Wiper Blades. John Akin, Senior Partner in the business reported that they were taking pleasure in their best ever sales as many motorists were beginning to do simple maintenance tasks, such as changing Car Wiper Blades themselves. They were also looking for better value for money, and Mr Akin said that he believed that the mixture of a competitive price and a very long service life, underpinned by his company’s unique 12 month warranty had been essential factors in persuading many new customers to give Silicone Wiper Blades a try. Mr Akin went on to say “the majority of premium branded rubber Wiper blades come with a disclaimer warning the motorist that he will be required to swap these new Wiper blades in six to 12 months time. I believe we are the only wiper blade suppliers in Britain telling our customers that any of our Wiper blades which don’t last at least 12 months will be changed free of charge”

Mr Akin then went on to state that Silicone Wiper Blades have several other benefits over rubber Wiper blades, notably they work much better in extreme environments, resisting adhesion of ice and remaining flexible down to minus60?C. These qualities are proving very popular in the present arctic winter conditions we are presently struggling with.
