Xerox Phaser 4510 Toner Cartridge: Superior Printing Quality

August 10th, 2009 · No Comments · Product Reviews

In the interest of helping your business to remain as competitive as possible, we present a printer comparison. The Xerox Phaser 4510dt printer will be compared against the HP LaserJet P4015dn. Both machines serve as centralized printers to meet the needs of small to mid-sized businesses. They comparisons will be based on the specifications listed by each manufacturer, as well as actual performance observed by our team.

Initial Cost: Comparing the specific models we tested the Phaser loses to the LaserJet. The MSRP for the 4510 is $1599, while the price for the HP is $1479. This isn’t a significant difference and both companies offer other configurations with different price points.

Standard Warranty: The clear winner in this category is the Phaser 4510 which comes with a one year on-site repair warranty. HP’s warranty, on the other hand, requires the printer to be returned to an authorized service centre.

First Page Out: The Phaser ekes past the LaserJet with a speed of 8 seconds, half a second faster than the LaserJet’s time of 8.5 seconds. In our lab the Phaser was able to push the first page out in an average of 10 seconds, which was a full second faster than the HP.

Printing Speeds: However, as the machines warmed up the results reversed in favour of the LaserJet. The LaserJet averaged 47 pages per minute, which beat the Phaser by 2. This was much closer than the listed maximums posted on the respective manufacturer’s website (LaserJet 52 ppm and Phaser 48 ppm).

Maximum Paper Input: The Xerox printer has a maximum paper capacity of 1800 sheets, with the standard recommendation being 1250. The HP has a standard capacity of 600 sheets, but leaps ahead of the Phaser with a maximum capacity of 3600.

Output Sizes: Both machines have comparable ranges in this area. They can print from 3”x5” to 8.5” x 14”.

Network: This round is another tie. With a standard configuration that includes 3 regular USB ports, 1 Hi-Speed USB, a NIC and serial connections, the LaserJet provides multiple methods for converting data into hard copy. The Phaser has a similar configuration and but only has one USB port.

Findings: These two printers are very closely matched, although there is a slight performance advantage in the Xerox Toner Cartridges. Both machines have very user-friendly interfaces and your employees will quickly learn to navigate the controls of whichever you choose to purchase. As the boss, your role is to prioritize our findings. Does the price difference influence you, or are you more concerned about the terms of the service warranty? These would be the two areas that our team suggest prospective buyers look into. In addition, consider the cost of Xerox Printer Toner Cartridgeversus the cost of ink for the HP 4510. Regardless of the printer you choose you should be able to perform the functions necessary for your small to mid-sized business. For more information, please visit http://www.qtoner.us.
