Samsung engineers and develops some of the worlds leading high definition televisions. They have had to compete with huge, successful television manufacturers like Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and Motorola. Even though Samsung is a relative new-comer to the television marketplace, their products are as good, if not better than their competitors.
Samsung makes several lines of televisions, all with their own unique line of model numbers. They have a model line called the 600 series which is very well suited for the first time HDTV buyer and targeted to those who are unfamiliar with high definition.
The main difference between the various models of series 600 televisions is the screensize. The quality and features of the series 600 HDTVs are the same, the only difference is screensize.
The Samsung LN46A650 is the 46 inch screensize model in the 600 series. The reason the Samsung HDTV is so good is that you get extremely high value for the amount that it costs.

Samsung describes their moulding process which creates the outer shell of the HDTV a Touch of Color. The Touch of Color manufacturing process is inspired by the automotive industry. It utilizes Samsung’s unique transparent and opaque color molding process and creates a clean, smooth black finish with just a hint of red translucent color and that is beautiful and attractive in almost every room.
The Ultra clear LCD panel they use is partly responsible for producing the incredibly clear and vibrant picture quality. What this refers to is that Samsung has replaced the light diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel that has a clear anti-glare sheild. It reduces the light thats reflected externally and creates an image clarity that highlights black and darkened areas, creates richer, truer colors and a brighter overall picture. The blacks don’t appear grayish. This panel also optimizes off-viewing angles which means you don’t have to sit directly in front of the set to see the picture at its finest.
They also have what they call Wide Color Enhancer that enhances the color spectrum and delivers truer colors, so that greens, blues and reds do not appear washed out or faded, but vibrant and realistic.
What they call Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz image interpolation actually doubles the frame display rate from 60 to 120 frames a second and doesn’t repeat the same image to make more frames. It calculates what the middle frame would be between two frames and inserts that frame in between the two successive frames. What this means for the viewer is that fast action scenes like sports or car racing appears in high definition without looking blurry or smudged.
50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio refers to the increase in the sets capability of creating realistic contrast and brightness levels. It aids in the picture quality by creating whiter whites, blacker blacks and almost an infinite subtlety of gradations in between.
120 Hz refers to the number of frames that refresh per second. The higher the number, the smoother and more defined the movement becomes.
Also important to know is the pixel response time rate. For the Samsung LN46A650 HDTV, the pixel response rate is a blazing fast 4 milliseconds. (Traditional HDTVs are usually around 8 millisecond response time).
Finally, they have made the television with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. That means that you can view the set with perfect picture clarity while standing up, off to the side and directly in front. You do not lose any picture quality when viewing at an awkward angle.
